Our Sunday gatherings are not what define us as a church, but they are an essential part of Oasis life. They provide an opportunity for us to gather together and celebrate in who God is, what He has done, and what He is doing in our lives. There are three main elements: connecting with one another, centring on and celebrating in God, and receiving practical and dynamic teaching from the Bible. Our gatherings are reasonably informal and take place every Sunday at our building on South Street, Harborne, in the morning for a 10:30am start and in the afternoon for a 4:30pm start. Everyone is welcome to join us!
Small Groups are a vital part of Oasis life. They provide an opportunity to be known and to know others in a smaller setting. We have groups that gather in various locations at different times across the city. Click here for a list of our groups, and then drop us an email on firstname.lastname@example.org to connect in to one. You can also check out the Resources section of our blog here for resources, notes and application questions that are used during our Small Group gatherings.
A key ingredient in our life together is our dependency on God through prayer. ‘The Boiler Room’ is the name we give to our regular prayer gatherings and we see them as the heart of everything we are and all that we do together.
We want to offer children the very best experience we possibly can, and so each Sunday we run Oasis Kids Club (OKC) - all about fun, friendship and Jesus. We have OKC Pre-School for 2½ to 5 year olds and OKC Club Zone for up to 11 year olds. These run on Sundays during the morning meeting from 10:20am - look out for the directional banners or ask a member of the Welcome Team in an Oasis orange t-shirt for directions.
We have a growing community of 11 to 18 year olds who gather during our Sunday afternoon meetings and and on alternate Fridays, exploring together what it means to live with God at the centre of your life, as well as having loads of time to hang out and have fun.
We love the fact we are in a University city and that 40% of the population of Birmingham is under the age of 30. Both Students and 20’s are welcome as a vital part of who we are, and get involved in lots of different areas of Oasis life as well as specifically gathering as a group for meetings and socials. Seasons is an focus group for those who recognise that moving from one stage of life to another presents both challenges and opportunities. We gather at various points in the year to provide a space to encourage and explore “what next?” in our lives.
‘Women’s Deeper’ events are run at various times throughout the year and act as an opportunity to share life, centre on God and regularly encourage one another. Events range from retreat days and conferences to lunches and worship evenings.
The Alpha Course offers a great opportunity for anyone to explore the foundations of the Christian faith with no strings attached. There’s a free meal, engaging talk and group discussions. Everyone who comes on Alpha loves it! We normally run an Alpha course each year in the autumn.
